Our 3" Column Ethanol Still Plans
We helped create the original Charles 803 manual with Robert Warren. This is the updated version with a higher output and added features to increase the ease of operation. For those who want to know more about the precursor to our stills take a look at the Charles Still History page.
This still will produce up to 5 gallons per hour (120 gallons per day) with 18% beer ethanol content. Lower output per hour with lower ethanol content.* This still is sufficient to fuel one vehicle for the average person, assuming you distill at least four times a week.

Our 4" Column Ethanol Still Plans
Based on the same design, our 4" still will produce a lot more fuel in the same time.
The 4" Column Still has an average ethanol output of 5 gallons per hour , with a peak flow rate of about 15 gallons an hour.
Remember: output depends on the ethanol content of your beer and the boiler size. The higher the ethanol content of your beer and the larger the batch, the higher the output. We recommend a minimum boiler size of 100 gallons for operation of the 4" column still.

*All ethanol output of any still is based on concentration of alcohol vapors going into still, boiler size and the flow rate of the vapors. The first hour of production in a batch process always produces the highest amount of ethanol output.
